Girl on a spaceship is a book review blog. Maybe also a film review blog, because I need to watch more films.

I named the blog Girl in a Spaceship, because I like sci-fi and I am a girl. Or a woman, I am not sure a 25 year old can still be qualified as a girl. I would like to go into space, even though I am scared of heights. So, I will just put myself in a spaceship on my blog. It is sort of the same thing. If I keep saying that, I might actually believe it one day.

I created my blog because I wanted a place to talk. I love talking about the things in my life and a few years ago I discovered GoodReads. I started writing reviews for the books I read about a year ago and I loved doing it. Talking about books that I read, recommending them to my friends and having friends recommend me books in return. Now, GoodReads is a big place, so I decided to open up a blog. Let more people know about the amazing books that are out there and hopefully inspire people to start reading.

Now, there are people that can read multiple books in a week. I am not one of them. Well, I can be one of them, but I choose not to be. At the beginning of 2013 I decided to read slower in an attempt to enjoy the books I read a bit more, a bit longer. And it is working. I don't read as fast any more, but I really do enjoy reading so much more than I already did.

There are a lot of book review blogs around and this is just another one, but I do believe I can contribute a bit. Just a little bit. I read so many different things, there is bound to be something for you as well. I love the classics, I adore some young adult and my heart lies with the dystopian sci-fi's.
The books reviewed on Girl on a Spaceship are a mix of everything. The older classics or the new books that only just came out.

Most of the posts on this blog will be in English, because I am not that attracted to Dutch literature and I do not want to read books that are translated from English into Dutch. However, every now and then I might read a Dutch book and the review will be in Dutch for that book.
